P14 Deploying OBIEE in the Cloud - Options and Deployment Scenarios

With Oracle's announcement at the last Openworld at OBIEE will now be available in the Oracle Cloud as "Reporting as a Service", what does this new product promise, and what other options are there for running OBIEE in the cloud - either Oracle's, or from platform and infrastructure-as-a-service providers such as Amazon AWS, Rackspace and VMWare. In this session, we'll look at various approaches to running OBIEE in the cloud, look at licensing and product features, and see how supporting infrastructure such as data warehouse databases, ETL tools and identity management can also be deployed in the cloud to support OBIEE.

P3 Getting Real Business Value from OBIEE and Oracle Data Mining

Using Higher Education as a real-life example, we will show how using Oracle Data Science can deliver significant insights into student performance and applications. This project uses Oracle Advanced Analytics Option to discover patterns in student behaviour. OBIEE was then used to present detailed analysis incorporating the data mining models developed using Oracle Data Miner. The presentation will demonstrate how Universities can protect their income by predicting which students are most likely to withdraw early from their courses. We will also explain how all organizations can benefit from Oracle Advanced Analytics and Oracle OBIEE, all you need to have is the right question!

Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database can be used either standalone, or as part of the Exalytics product bundle, to provide an in-memory mid-tier data cache for OBIEE. In this session, we look at how you can deploy TimesTen as an "analytic sandbox database" under the control of the BI team, with your own data model, indexing and column-store optimization. We'll see how TimesTen supports more concurrent users and returns data faster than a regular disk-based database, and we'll look at modeling techniques that permits more agile, end-user focused development when you've got your own mid-tier database to work with.
